  1. Final question!

    I have a 10yo MTB with shimano components - I am going to replace the 7spd sprocket. If I go with the (newer) IG 7spd sprocket, will it be compatabile with the hub (which I presume is HG?).

    Yes,but
    I'd stick with HG.There is plenty of it around. IG was a complete drivetrain system all designed to work together. You can mix stuff,but sometimes with mixed results. Shimano says use IG chains with IG cogs, but sram chains work with both.
