Spoke length help

Dan Halen's spoke calculator gives a lengths of 299 and 298mm for 3 cross 32
spoke lacing. I removed a left and right side spoke and measured lengths of 302
and 296. What length spokes do I need? Any idea why the difference between the
calculated and actual lengths?

Your calculated lengths are correct of 32 hole 3X build with a 614 mm ERD rim.
The previous spokes were a little short on the right and long on the left.
You had left spokes protruding from the back side of the nipples and right spokes that didn't have full thread engagement.

You would think so but I looked and could not see any pattern. It is possible
that I picked a spoke that had been replaced by one of slightly wrong length.

Anyway I am will get spokes that split the difference.
