  1. Hello,

I am trying to make a heart rate monitor (especially for cyclist) which also measures speed, distance, altitude etc. I know there are some formulas which calculate calorie consumption, energy expenditure, fat ratio of the burned calories from these mesurements. But they usually use mass, training type and intensity, and duration. But as an amateur cyclist, I know that calorie consumption is very affected by heart rate (maximum and resting HRs) and sex. Heart rate itself is a perfect "indicator" which is related to fitness level. Sex is another important parameter due to different phsyical conditions and muscle/fat ratios of men and women.

What I need is a formula to calculate (approximately) calorie consumption and fat ratio of the burned calories using standart/basic parameters with also heart rate and sex parameters. Perhaps, there cannot be any formula giving exact calorie consumption but with heart rate and sex, I think, good approximation can be done.

    Thank you for your help

i have have a word document which states the formulas of 3 different methods, with explanations. so if you want PM me with an email address and i'll forward the document on to you, maye it will help you.

i have tryed to attache the doc but it is just under 2mb and i am offered 1 mb attachements. or if you prefare i could chop it down into acceptable portions so you could read the attachements,

  3. Does HR vs power fluctuate with other factors .. warmup, fatigue, ambient temperature ?..
But iIs it the case that all things considered it's still likely to be a better (more consistent) approx than distance & speed alone covered .. where varying terrain & headwinds/tailwinds will have a huge effect ?

  4. Hello,

I am new to this forum. Lately, I am also trying to look for a formula to calcuate my calorie for my bike exercise. Is that you can also forward me the formula to calculate the calorie with heart rate and if possible with weight as a factor too. I believe heavier weight can burn more calories. Well, I hope I can get ride of more weight sooner. 🙂 My email address is [email hidden]

Thanks for your information in advance.

    Best Regards,

    -TC
