  1. I am just getting into mountain biking and have been looking for a good hardtail starter bike in the range of $250-350. I was set to buy a new trek 4300 for $300 dollars but now my brother told me he wants to sell me his trek 8000. I believe his trek is a 2001 so its not new, (red and white). Just wondering what would be my best bet, to go a head and just buy the new 4300 or buy my brothers 8000 which is three yrs old? my brother tells me the guy at the shop said his bike is still worth $500, im getting the family discount and he wants to sell it to me for $300. what shall i do?

    thanks; new guy

  2. Ride both of them and then choose the one you want to ride. How they feel and perform is the most important factor.
