I just locked my bike yesterday and I got this problem with my
Combination cable lock (I have no idea what its called in english!)
The cablelock looks like the one in this website: (also an ABUS product)
I have never had such a lock before, I had one similar to this (a spiral
one instead of the cable) and my
friend lost it and bought me this one. He was able to set the code of
the lock (which I myself do not know.. I am not sure if this is done
when you buy the lock or it can be done at anytime), exactly like the
one from my previous combi-lock. When the lock is open there are two red
small movable arc on the cross-section, I do not know if that is
actually the mechanism that allows you to change the code.
But anyway. the problem is the following... When I tried to lock the
lock yesterday, the stick went halfway through and then got stuck. Now
the combination key was correct and I couldnt move the stick out
nor could I move it more in. This is the first time that this happens to
me. My theory
was that probably the code of the combination was
changed as the stick was moving in and it got stuck halfway.. this is a
bit crazy, but I can´t think of any other reason. I tried to force it
out, but it was locked halfway thru and won´t move out even if the code
was right.
I really do not want to look like a theif trying to steal my bike, so I
don't want to cut the lock (besides it´s a good lock, and besides
besides cutting it won't be that easy!). If anyone could give me some
suggestion or comments on how I should proceed on solving this problem,
I would really appreciate it. Many thanks.
