I am new to the cycling world, and looking to buy a starter bike. I have an opportunity, but an not sure if everything is kosher ... still learning. THe bike is set up as follows: Dura Ace front derailler, 600 crank, Deore rear derailler. My question is whether or not you can mix Deore with road components? Can anyone offer any insight?

What kind of shifter does it have? I thought Deore was a mountain bike derailer and I'm not entirely sure but I don't think you would use a STI shifter with it. Could be wrong, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly.Dan.
