Seek comments on Trikes

I'm just a kid (67) and have a Rans Rocket and an EZ-3 Trike. My Rocket
is gathering dust because I just enjoy the trike more. I'm in the market
for an upgraded trike and will probably go for either an EZ-3AX
(upgraded EZ-3) or the soon to be released (I hope) Sun Tadpole. I rode
and loved a Catrike but had a helluva time hauling my old bones in and
out of it. Others on this board have much more experience than me but I
think the Catrike and the EZ-3 represent a big chunk of the trike
options available and I'd suggest you try to test ride both and see what
fits your requirements. I think you'll fall in love with whatever you
choose.

Get a EZ3.

How much you want to spend to ride around the neighborhood and to go
shopping? The two trikes and one bike I am suggesting all have you sitting
high enough that you can see and be seen in traffic. If on the lower price
range of a bent trike, take a look at the Tricruiser by American Cruiser
(http://www.americruiser.com/). For a really durable trike, look at
Greenway from Lightfoot Cycles (http://www.lightfootcycles.com/grmodel.htm).
If you do not have to have a trike, i.e., if stability is not a problem)
take a look at the Giant Revive 2004
(http://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/030.000.000/030.000.000.asp?lYear=2004&bik
esection=8836&range=142&mode=rangelist). I think this is a great bike for
us old folks.

There are some trikes that may be a problem for your height and/or your
weight - I would suggest checking with the particular builder to make sure that
there's no problem. Greenspeed, for instance, makes frames specifically for
heavier and/or larger riders. Other builders will let you know if you might
have problems with their trikes.
Check out the various websites for trikes from Catrike, Greenspeed, and
WizWheelz, to name just three. Email them for more information, and most
importantly, see if they have dealers in the area, or at least current owners
who wouldn't mind letting you have a test ride.
Incidentally, ICE just introduced two new trikes, called the Q and the T. I
have the Q right now, and 'll be reviewing it for 'BentRider Online
(http://www.bentrideronline.com). The T is quite similar to the Q, but has a
higher seat height and ground clearance. I don't know if they have any
restrictions regarding height and weight that might cause you a problem. Check
out http://www.ice.hpv.co.uk for the latest info.

Just a thought, but the EZ-3AL has a max rider weight of 250 lbs.
