Colango??? Help to identify pls :confused:

    Hi

    Just acquired this bike from my Father's friend. Can help me identify which mode is it....I was told it maybe the same age as me....20+yrs. Is it advisable to restore this bike? If so is it possible for me to restore the paint by doing touchup n don have to resort to stripping the paint... Thanks in Advance! any comments is appericated.

    I'm no expert, but........

    I would guess that it is a Colnago, firstly because that looks like the Colnago clover leaf imprint on the head tube lug, and I've seen quite a few old Colnagos made with that fluted tubing. A good way to tell is to get more close-up shots of the lugs (especially the bottom bracket, and the fork crown) so you can look for other stampings.

    Do the other lugs have clover leafs on them?

    I wouldn't re-paint it unless you can get some "real" Colnago decals. Jus tgive it a clean & polish, then go nuts with the touch-up.

    I should mention that there's probably more Colnago decals around the glode than any other brand, but I think the "counterfeit" stickers have chunkier lettering.

    I've also gotta say that all the old frames I've seen that are made with that fluted tubing are absolutes BRICKS, so, if it bothers you, it's more than likely gunna be a very heavy bike. 😄

    Actually I don mind the weight as long as it has the poser look after a good cleaning up😄 .

    The bottom of the BB has a clover and only the lug near the headtube has the clover as in the pics. The rest of the lug are mostly emobossed by the word "colnago" thats all. Will try to get clearer pics.... my digicam sucks :o ...

    In the mean time pls bear with the pics and give some pointers pls! Thanks

    With all that embossing, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't authentic.

    I don't think it's quite 20 years old, although it's hard for me to tell.

    Nutbag is right that it's liable to be heavy. But what Boudreaux probably means is that "a BRICK" means an extra pound or so over a modern day sexy aluminum frame... thus, it's not going to matter much. My dad has a '70s Masi, and while quite heavy relatively speaking, it's still only a couple pounds heavier than his carbon '03 bike.
