For my recent LEJOG I took relevant pages torn from AA road atlas - they are always available cheap e.g £2 or so in garages, and cover roads really well in enough detail to navigate through most places inc busy towns. Don't weigh much and you chuck the pages away as you go. BUT I've just spotted that the Philips equivalent also has campsites marked up. Could have been useful, twice had to rough camp and now find that I was within half mile or so of campsite. Bugger. It's Philips for me from now on!

I find these maps very useful, and as a teacher they give me a 20% discount!
You need 5 for Le Jog, and 39.95 ain't cheap, but the maps are completely weatherproof and I have used them as a groundsheet, a plate, an umbrella and a bug swatter!
Unfortunately, useful cycle routes, such as the Tarka Trail and Camel Trail, are not included. But nearly all campsites are included.
