  1. Wasn't sure which forum to post this in, but oh well. I have noticed recently that even on short rides (~15 mi), I have started getting pretty uncomfortable lower neck pain. It doesn't hurt all that much when I'm totally upright, hurts a little when I'm on the hoods, and hurts more when I'm in the drops. What really hurts is when I turn my head to look back over my shoulder. I don't have any knee pain, and I have little, if any, lower back pain. I'm 5'9" riding a 52cm bike. I have changed around the saddle height a bit to try to generate some more power, so that might be the problem. What do you think?

Looks like you just need to get used to the position. Also make sure you're properly fitted on your bike.

I got "fitted" for my bike, I'm 5'8.5" and my bike is a 54

That seems a little small to my very limited experience in bike sizing.

When I get neck pain I do some streches and it goes away. I stretch by turning my head and holding a few seconds to the left then right then down and up. Then I push my chin back towards my neck as far as posible and hold it. (that one really helps me)

Yeah I thought that it might be small, too. But that's what the LBS hooked me up with. This was two years ago, though, and although I didn't grow, I definitely didn't have a clue of what I was doing back then. You are right, though. When I stretch my chin down towards my neck, that tends to help the best. Anyhow, I'm going to get a new bike soon. Especially with end-of-the-season deals coming up soon. Thanks for the help.
