I was wondering why some of us folks who ride
these bikes a lot still tend to carry a lot of weight.
One would think that all this riding will make us
    all skinny!

Well I just answered my own question. After
riding my SS on jeep roads for 15mi., with one
stretch break, same trails I couldn't even do on
my FS without stopping a lot for a breather just
a year ago, I go home to the following home-cooked
meal (my wife is an aspiring chef)...

    - Fresh 8oz. salmon pattie cooked in Cajun spices
    - Portabello mushroom stuffed with (real) crab meat
    - Bowl of corn soup
    - Cup of rice
    - Tall glass of milk

    (Sighhhhhh) Life is good!!!

Mostly fast food. Not proud of that but I eat very poorly. I just had 3
bowls of Cheerios with a [censored] load of sugar. Probly 2 tablespoons a bowl.

Going to sleep now, ahhh stuffed.

Well, on the bright side... Imagine what "some of (you) heavy set folk"
would look like without all the cycling... So, good on ya, I say.

Besides, why deprive yourself the good things in life just to maintain
somebody else's idea of a healthy physique?

Being healthy isn't about body image... It's about having the physical
capacity to live a fulfilling life.

    Just my 2 cents...

I'm a creature of habit. Whether after a bike ride or a
long day at work (I'm a contractor, no chair warming
with me), my favorite meal is *still* a half-pound
cheeseburger, a bowl of chili, and a six pack of beer.

BTW: I'm 5'9" and weigh 145 lbs. Go figure.

    Now you're skinny. I'm 5'7" at 185lbs. I want to rid of
    10-15 lbs.

You're just the right weight - you're just 5 inches too short ;-)

I'm 6', 190 lbs and could stand to lose 5 or so, back to where I was a few
years back. Not that I'm obsessing over 5 lbs.....

Good lord, man - I can [censored] and lose 5#....

I occasionally think back on the days (pre-kids and middle age) when I was
165# - riding 30 hours a week. I'd need to lose about 25# to get down to
    165....

My wife says that if you biopsied the fat on my waste, you'd find

Pah! 5'7" and 195lbs! Winter padding and big bones ;-)
A good fit weight for me is 180 or a bit lighter.
But I blame the Sunday after ride meal: Flame grilled Whopper Burger and
    accompaniments is the BEST.
