Anyone got any info on consecutive stage wins in tdf? Whats the record?
And, second question, How many have won four out of five consecutive
stages?

Thanks
Okay, I had forgotten Cipollini's four consecutives in 1999.
I have not found any five consecutives so I guess Cipollini has the
record there....?
Two more questions....
Whats the story of the points used from 1905 until 1912?
I noticed that several times in the 60's and 70's the winner of the last
stage was the overall winner. This happened to Anquetil, Gimondi,
Janssen, Merckx (four times), Hinault (twice). Since then it has not
occured (except for Lemond TT in 89).
Were these stage wins "arranged" or genuine?
Great list, I like stats, when is 2004 being added?
Cheers

Placement during the stage. Lowest sum won GC.

Post war, yes. Otherwise, look to 1920 (8), 1906 (7) or 1909, 1920 (5).
1912, 1913, 1914, 1920, 1929, 1930 also have a streak of 4.

Check the note at the top of the page about the code "q."

Damn. Now I don't feel like rechecking all the years I mentioned; Cipo's
4 really is the longest streak ever? It would be nice.

Wonders if we are talking stage wins or days in yellow here?

If you're so interested, go throught he stage results at memoire-du-cyclisme.net
No pun, it IS interesting,
You'll see the final stage was often an ITT.
The main exception is Hinault , who won twice the now usual Champs Elysees stage.
IIRC once in a cannibalistic bunch sprint win, the other time off the pack with Joop.

I think it's customary to spell his name Joop! with exclamation mark.

François Faber won five consecutive stages in 1909. Charles Pélissier four
in 1930. Neither of them got a little help from the jury, as Cipo did.
