Personally I think it is a great way to show your support and appreciation for the best of the best. I have a couple pro jerseys and do wear them on ocassion. Really there is nothing wrong with it... sports fans all over the world in wear the clothing of their favorite athlete/team.

If it is that big a deal to you, don't wear em...
