😕 I have been looking at frame size charts for different bikes, but I'm confused on how to get measured for a standard road bike. I've been to a local bike shop and they seem to tell me I could either ride a 54cm or a 56cm. So then I look online (ebay, etc) for a good buy. I'm 5'8" and have a 30" inseam. Can someone help? Does 2cm really make a difference?

2cm = roughly 8/10 of an inch
it could mean the differance of cranking you privates or not
remember the mesurement is just a starting point
get one that feels comfortable or feels right to you -

Greg LeMond says that your frame should be 66.66% of your inseam, which makes it about a 50 or 51cm! Without measuring your trunk, I'd say 56 would be too big, but 54 might be ok
Seat height is not crucial, but top tube length is.
