    Hi,
    Browsing Alpe D'Huez websites I came across this figure. I recall seeing
    these sorts of chart on Eurosport during TdF.

    What do the numbers mean at the bottom of the vertical bars? 10,6 for
    example?

    Gradients as a percentage. 100% = vertical (1metre forward and 1metre up!).

    Vertical means zero meters forward one meter up.

    100%, if it means 1/1, is a 45 degree angle.

    So the 10% slope I was on today was a measily 4.5%. Amazing how little
    it takes to floor us.

    What the others said, but note that 10,6 is 10.6 in English - they use
    commas for decimals on the continent.
