I recently purchased a Specialized Roubaix with the Ultegra shifters/brakes. Im really happy with them they work great, my problem is the levers are just a little to far out for my fingers to reach. I have to stretch brake or shift which really breaks my concentration on faster sections. Anything I can adjust to fix this? Im relatively new to road cycling and I didnt see an obvious way. thanks.

i seem to remember a review in cycling plus, either last year or the year before, concerning a shim that is made by shimano specifically for reducing the reach on the ultegra sti levers.unfortunatly i dont know if its still available or if it is still manufactured by shimano.

It's still available, and it basically just fits in the gap between the lever and the upper housing, keeping it from closing as much. I had a pair added to my girlfriend's bike a few months ago. It seemed to help. Any local bike shop should be able to get a pair and hook you up. I think they're sold through quality.

Does depend on if the Ultegras are compatible , mine aren´t : could try looking for different bars - some , Terry for example , are designed for women and do bring the lever a lot closer than a standard bar .
