Quoted message said:Has anyone heard of, seen, know of any for sale - Back in the early
eighties I sent for some information on a three wheeled recumbent
called the landspeeder. It had two smaller front wheels that steered,
one rear 27" wheel and an elaborate system of chains to the rear wheel.
It was very cool and I would love to find one. Help me out if you have
ever seen or heard of one in the real world.
Thanks.
I think you're describing a MASA Slingshot:

I rode one, also in the early '80's. It was about as hideous a riding
experience I've ever had (and I'm pretty tolerant). Flexy frame. Poor
weight distribution. No front brakes and a rear disc brake that
wouldn't stop a 4-week old kitten. Worst of all, a black vinyl sling
seat with metal grommets.
My partner and I addressed some of the defiencies and built some
recumbent trikes of our own called Aerocoupe Cyclecars:
http://www.pacifier.com/~jwills/Gallery/index.html . (No jokes about
the socks, OK?) Even they were poor in comparison to the current crop
of recumbent trikes from Greenspeed, ICE, and others.
The Slingshot was neat in its time, but it's only a curiousity now.
