It weren't THE germans goin against Lance on L'alpe (the other 50% were
going after Voigt, lol), it's not THE french hating LANCE, and it's not
THE americans being as nationalistic as you are.

Hincapie said and Lance said they were Germans. Hincapie said the spitting was
motivation for Lance to take the stage from Kloden. So it mattered to Kloden,
didn't it?

I don't know where you get the idea that I'm "nationalistic" from any of that.

I guess I could have an emotional reaction to the spitters but my main concern,
as I wrote (as OP) in the subject line, is that LA survived the gauntlet and
won the day and the race. It didn't work out that way for Eddy Merckx that one
time, as you may remember. Hence, as the old saying goes, "it ain't over 'til
it's over". Well, it's over. At least for this year. --TP

Nope, not to cheer more. Yes, they are not to blame. And apologies if that came
off as a threat, not the intent. LA uses whatever motivators he finds as fuel.
Those fans possibly made it hard on "their" racers; Hincapie reported the LA
reaction to the Germans spitting in his face, and I wouldn't forget that
either. Would you?

On the "nationalism" thing, there are lots of USA fans who were here before
Lance Armstrong and will be around after. Maybe a few latecomers will stick
around, and maybe we'll get TV coverage apres Lance. Hoping. Meanwhile, it's
been great although disruptive to the July riding schedule. --TP
