Cycle Computers in Aldi?

If it's like the H@lfords cheapies - it'll be fine provided it doesn't
get Cold or Wet. The LCD on mine gets foggy when it's cold 🙁

I got the heart rate monitor for 15 quid, the wristwatch one. Works
perfectly well.

To be honest I bought six of the buggers, 3 black and 3 silver.
Looking at the spec and quality I thought they would do well on ebay
but ebay's swamped with them at the moment so I'll play the waiting
game. I only need a maximum of 3 myself but plan to sell the other 3
on ebay in a month or two. Aldi sell them at a very low price to get
people in the door and they have more features than many cycle
computers selling for £20+. 20 functions and a temperature readout
plus an attractive large display. Check out ebay for loads of auctions
of these as some are going quite low I think at the moment. Might even
get one cheaper than instore.

Picked up a heart rate wireless one, the mount is a bit wobbly compared
with others but the wireless range from the leg is loads better than the
cateye models. Need to see what its like in cold weather to get the real
test.

The speed updates quite quickly which puts it way ahead of those crappy
specilised computer, its also fun to watch the distance update to 3 decimal
places, makes you look like superman watching the numbers twirl over 🙂

For £15 its a good bargin.

😠 Quickly fitted mine yesterday, but am struggling to get the 2mm gap between the transmitter and spoke thingy. The instructions for fitting are useless (it's my first cycle computer). Any ideas before I fashion a new bracket out of bits left over in my garage.

Think the problem is 700 23C wheels on my Carrera (I know I shouldn't have, but I've just moved to a new area and couldn't get the LBS to speak to me!!!!)

What is the name of the manufacturer of the ones sold by Aldi? I did a
search for 'Aldi' and got nothing and looked for the cheaper ones but they
look to be different makes.

Its not the easist to fit, I just ignored the instructions and put it
behind the leg

One thing I forgot, I used an old magnet, the new one doesn't allow a flat
spoke. I'll need to drill that one.

I bought a cycle computer/HRM from Lidl in March for fifteen. It confuses the speed at wheels with heart rate on the display sometimes and needs resetting, but can be quite entertaining to use.

what functions has it got, colin?

Time, max temperature and minimum temperature, current temperature,
odometer, spedometer, current trip distance, road time for this trip,
average speed for trip, maximum speed for trip. I think that's all it does
🙂

Thus far it's behaving itself fairly well. Once you get the thing sorted out
with the right wheel circumferance it's a doddle.

Time, max temperature and minimum temperature, current temperature,
odometer, spedometer, current trip distance, road time for this trip,
average speed for trip, maximum speed for trip. I think that's all it does

There's also a couple of little arrows for "current speed is above/below
average" if you count that as another function. (They are visible if you
have something other than average speed selected, so not totally redundant.)

Thanks for advice. Problem was the battery in the transmitter was duff!! All sorted now with new one.
