  1. Today, my husband took his first ride on the roads outside our immediate
neighborhood! And then he rode *12* miles with me. I couldn't believe
it. I was so proud of him. *huge happy grin*

I even got him to raise his saddle. He wouldn't raise it enough, and we
had to spend some time in a big parking lot helping him learn how to
start and stop with the seat even that high, but it's a start.

He made me ride in front. Figures. Like son, like father. *sigh*
Breezy day, too; on the way back, I was riding into a pretty good
headwind. But I also have to admit that drafting behind him wasn't a
good option; he's still pretty erratic on a bike. It made for a good
    workout.

After a few miles, he'd gotten warmed up, and he says, "Faster!" So, I
crank it up a notch. After a little while, I notice that I don't hear
him behind me. Look over my shoulder -- he's 100 meters behind me.
    *snorfle*

But it was SO nice to ride with my sweetie. Today was the first nice
day in weeks -- it's been raining every single day for like, most of
this month. So we were savoring the blue skies and the green plants and
just relaxing. Our average speed was only 9.7 mph, but it didn't
    matter. We were together.

When we got home, I asked him, "So, are you hooked yet?"

    He said, "Maybe," and grinned.

    *huge happy grin*

If he was riding behind you, perhaps hes' been hooked for quite a
while, and needed a bit of reminding.....

Well, I'm going to enjoy being the stronger rider for now, cuz it isn't
    gonna last long. ;-)

  5. Ask him if their are places he'd like to go, see or do on the ride. Give
him the opportunity to achieve a goal.

Meeting and eventually conquering it can be a real inspiration. Trust
    me, it's a male thing...

If you're in good shape, and you're wearing snug bicycle shorts,
he might be sandbagging on purpose. ;-)
