When you have to use some sort of European fish weighing scale vs the
team electronics, 20 gms means to me they could have a calibration
problem.

Not that I'm saying, in anyway, that the TdF wouldn't have the best
bike weighing device possible.

Re-watch the OLN broadcast. He's right in that it looks exactly like a
fish scale that the officials were using to weigh Lance's bike. They really
should spend at least a couple of euros to get a decent scale.

A number of riders, including Voekcler, had problems with the weight
because the official weigh is made without the speedometer. The
theory is that the speedometer, like water bottles, is removable during
the ride.

Knock a few pounds off the bike in general then add it back on as lead
in the bottom bracket to lower the center of gravity for some quick
downhill cornering 😉

I am wondering if soon (almost) all the pro riders will use these SRM
crank-powermeters (as seen on Voigt's bike for example). I mean, why
not? If its possible to build a bike not heavy enough for the UCI with
standard parts, why just add lead? Or maybe we will see them in the
'preparation' races like Dauphiné or Tour de Suisse, for better
control.

One thing is for sure: From a business view it would be brilliant to
have Lance ride SRM. Sales will rocket after that. (Even at
"prohibitve" prices).

On a side note: The UCI could reduce the minimum weight gradually...

Almost all of the Div. 1 pros already do, but usually in training rides or
in races that aren't on their "A" list. Armstrong has ridden the
Midi-Libre and Dauphine with the SRM; Vinokourov won Paris-Nice twice with
the SRM on his bike. Riis had an SRM on his bike when he won the 1997
Amstel Gold WC race (don't know if it was on his "A" list at the time).
There are also other power meters on the market, though the SRM is the
oldest and most popular.
