No, I missed that, but that has got to be one of the worst. I think with all
the fans many of riders go into a state known as the (zone) where they block
everything out to focus on the task at hand. (tunnel vision in a gauntlet)

him.

Lance was going to say something about some fans who were presumably
shouting, cursing, etc. at him, but then idiot Greg Hummer decided to
change the subject, as if Lance was his best friend and he wanted to
spare Lance the hardship of talking about what some of the anti Fans did
to him. By the way there was "EPO Lance" on the ground.

Lance said in a post race interview that he was glad to get through some
sections of spectators without an incident.

At least nobody took a swing at him.

Worse than the finger? Sure, in Italy they will pump one forearm in the air
while slapping the palm of the other hand down to the inside of the arm
joint. I think you are supposed to visualize something going up your kulo.
That is reserved for the French normally but if you are Irish and...never
mind.

No, they are well aware of the fans and the threats they may pose. Lance
has said so himself, and other riders commented on the raucous fans.
It's just something they seem to get used to.

Maybe it has to do with the very negative press he got after verbally
abusing Haselbacher, who lay bleeding on the ground. Not excuse

big deal - if he can't hack it he shouldn't be there. Whining about the
rude fans - sheesh. I remember some kids in the playground running to mommy
after they had a hard time with some fans or opponents... Suck it up big
boy, at least no one stabbed you in the back (ala tennis fans) or punched
you in the back (some anti cannibal).

Geez - a Lance fan whining about respect - seems to me that Lance has the
history of not showing respect. Get real.

Stephane Heulot managed to get a good slap in when a fan was
running next to him and he was leading the race up the Alpe d'Huez.

a spectator, but due to his low body mass, the climber was the one
who ended up going down.

Eric 'the photographer' Walkowiak also went down, then proceeded to
pat Guerini on the back in a lame attempt to help him get going again.
I was surprised to see that even with the fall that Guerini has a top
10 time for l'alpe.
