Some riders have developed the ability to pee on the bike. The have a
teammate ride next to them and steady the frame as they turn and relieve
themselves. Other riders time their "natural break" during a time when the
race is going slow. Usually a bunch of riders, from different teams, will

If you watch the TV coverage you can see it start to happen. The announcers
will say something like; it looks like a rider from team XX is having a
problem with his bike. Then they notice what is going on, and hopefully so
does the French producers and they switch cameras. I believe that there is
a fine for the rider if they stop in an area that has lots of spectators.

Many just pee their pants.

They do. There's a section of each route > 150k, off-camera (obviously),
with ~ 80 Porta Potties so the riders have a maximum wait of one person (on
average). It keeps things moving (so to speak).
