Hey-I am new to this forum. I got my a unicycle about 3 years ago (i am 15 now) after watching a guy in Ripleys Believe it of Not ride along side the edge of a cliff- anyways, i basically put it up for a a year or so and have gotten bored over the summer, so i got it back out- my turns were never really that great and smoothe- they are involve me using my waste to just try and throw myself around- i can make a smoothe turn, but it takes a LARGE amount of space to do so- also, what it that little handle under the seat? i never really knew what that was...
Oh boy Will, sounds like you just need to practice some more.......your turns will get smoother and smoother. One thing you can do is set up some cones and make yourself do figure-8's around them, this'll force you to practice turns in both directions. Start with them far apart so you are smooth, then move them in closer and closer overtime. Never move them so close that you do the waist twist to turn, only make it as tight as you can handle smoothly. This exercise will teach you to make smooth tight turns over time.
The handle is just that, a handle. You can hold onto it while dropping off a curb, bunny hopping, etc.
One thing that might be hindering my turns, is that my wheel is slightly bent- my sister literally fell on it- not off of it, but onto it (guess i shouldnt leave it laying around!)-yeah, pretty bad bend in it... maybe i should get that fixed- do wheels at like walmart work?
