  1. What size flex hone do I need to hone seat tubes that take 27.2mm seatposts?
One tool site had a 1" (25.4mm) hone and the next size was 1 1/8" (28.58mm).

    Thanks,

    Frank

    You don't hone, you ream.

I am not looking to expand the size of the seat tube, just clean it up and
have it free of any burrs or stuff. Thought a hone would do that, whereas a
reamer would take off metal and make the diameter of the seat tube larger?

If, by flex hone, you mean the ones that look like a bottle brush with
grit lumps on the fibers, then the 1 1/8" is an appropriate size for a
27.2mm bore. In the automotive mechanics' trade, we often call them
"dingleberry brushes." Be aware that this type of hone tends to
self-destruct expensively if used on a section of tube that has a slit
in it, such as is the case at the top of most seat tubes. For that
area, a little hand dressing with emery cloth and a very small file is
    my personal preference.

If that's what you're after, the larger flex hone would be fine. You
need one that is a little larger than the bore you're honing.

  6. I would wrap some emery cloth or abrasive paper around a broom handle or
piece of dowel. Actually, I would turn a piece of wood to a loose fit in
the seat tube, but I know there are some people who have to make do without
    a lathe. :-)

That's where the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape, comes in. As
long as you have a dowel smaller than the hole, with a suitable
quantity of duct tape you can achieve the fit required...and attach
the emery cloth with the last quarter-wrap.
