I hear beeps and toots from my office window all the time since I am right here on the town square (yes it's an old southern college town). This long one followed several deliberate short blasts gave me cause to pause for a looksee. Apparently a young college student was backing out of an angled parking space in his small pickup and bumped into one of those smallish Jeep Liberty's waiting to pull into another spot. I guess he didn't look before backing up. I can see the largish dent in the passenger side. To me, it looked like it could be popped out pretty easily, and a little paint touchup. But the couple got out of the Jeep, looked at the dent and started doing the "oh man i can't believe this (*&#$%. Look at that *()#$# !" dance. He did this dance several more times, even after the police came and filled out the report. Not just the man but the woman too. The young fellow got out and shook his head with a look of resignation and "what else can go wrong today" (summer classes started today). Nothing wrong with his truck at least as far as I could see.
Soon the fellow's parents were there; the father did nothing but hold his hands on his hips like a football coach, and before long the mother was giving directions to the lady of the dented vehicle, standing between them and her son...interesting dynamics. All told this took more than an hour, in fact they're still out there, shaking hands like the boxing match is over.
I rambled on about all this because it seems like such a silly thing compared to what Claire and the many others have written about being hit or forced to the asphalt. All this time & money over a dent in some metal (plastic?).

Hey! Get back to work!! 🙂
I would get zero work done if I had people-watching opportunities, although maybe I'd get used to it and stop watching.
Beautiful early Summer biking weather here -- 10 C in the morning, 20 C at night, lots of sun. The mosquitoes that will result from ALL the rain in May haven't hatched. Yet.

I know, I know... But installing Windows updates, virus updates, removing spyware, etc. gets tiring on the ole eyes after a while. Sometimes you HAVE to get away from the monitor. Watching the world go by gets old too, btw.

Some bits of urban life can be fascinating sometimes. I once spent half an hour observing a young couple arguing and apparently breaking up right in the parking lot. I was mesmerized by the interaction between the two, especially how they both nicely settled into the usual cliches (her: pleading, cajoling, trying to make it work; him: saying and doing the least possible, wishing he was elsewhere and just hoping she'd either kiss him or slap him *now* instead of talking about it).
