I've watched it several times now, and I don't think Armstrong "let" Ivan
Basso win. Basso won the stage fair and square, CSC deserved the stage,
Sastre set it up perfectly.
Armstrong found it really tough today.

he finish on the wheel of the stage winner after the two of them rode
everyone else off of their wheels? Did he move into second place and cut
his deficit on the overall leader nearly in half? I think lots of people
had it really tough today ... Ullrich, Hamilton, Heras ... even Mayo. Lance
did just fine ... or were you watching some other race?

Yes, he found it tough , Armstrong set off expecting to win this stage, but
he didn't win it, Basso went with him and was better on the day.
Thats not to say he's not going to win tomorrow, thats not to say he's not
going to win the race.
And I agree, others found it even tougher than Armstrong.

Winning the stage isn't just the lunge for the finish. Lance found
it tough today? You think gaining almost four minutes on Ullrich
should have been easy, but apparently it was relatively easy for Lance
today.

I think the best way to phrase it is... Armstrong didn't challenge Basso for
the win.

But... as I was watching it live, I thought an agreement was obviously in
place. Neither of them "broke" for the line. Ivan didn't sprint for the
line and didn't look back to see if Lance was setting up for a sprint. Even
Phil and Paul were caught short when Ivan raised his hands. They obviously
thought the line was further away because they hadn't seen a "finishing"
effort from either of them.
