I wonder how much that monstrosity slowed them down?

McEwen looked like a big headed alien in a B movie.

Wasn't there a Mel Brooks movie with Big Helmet in it who was supposed to be
a Darth Vader character? Space Balls was it?

Exactly right. The character's name was "Dark Helmet" played by Rick
Moranis, who complained throughout the movie that he hated wearing the
helmet because he couldn't see or breathe through it. That movie was a
Tour de Force for the ageless [censored] Van Patten.

When I saw those DOMO TT helmets that was what ran through my mind. I was
cracking up and the other people in the sports bar who were watching
baseball didn't know what I was laughing at.

I haven't been able to find a photo online of these helmets. Anyone
    have a link?

Here's a picture of the Selev helmets that FDJ used, two of which would
fit inside the Lazer TT helmet:

Most of the FDJ riders were using nondescript white Selev helmets, but
    McGee was using this one:

My personal feeling is that these TT helmets lend a lot less aero advantage
than the disadvantage of not cooloing enough. The difference between a
helmeted head with increased frontal area and slightly less drag than a
normal head with perhaps a cap to keep your hair from flailing around is
    miniscule at best.
