Just saw it yesterday with my daughter--it was a nice cameo. I think
Lance did fine. The fact that we know he is telling the truth about his
cancer struck a serious note in a very silly movie. It worked for me
anyway.
The movie was funny, but there were a couple of things (language etc.)
that made me wish I hadn't taken my daughter.

wrote that Lance's cameo is the most genuine and the funniest part of the
whole movie.

Well -- you knew something crude would be happending in a Ben Stiller
movie! I look forward to seeing Dodgeball soon. Of course I have fun memories
from 5th and 6th grade whipping dodgeballs around in gym class and also
outside lining up victims against the brick wall of the school in a more
dangerous verson of the sport.

Hey, am I the only small, not-very-athletic kid who just plain loved
dodgeball? I understand that nowadays there's some feeling that it's a
vicious game etc. etc., but all I remember was how fun it was when the
balls were coming in like crazy and it was all you could do to keep out
of the way.

I mean, it's a non-contact sport, people! I'm not aware of a lot of
injuries that are possible with one of those hilariously soft gym balls.

And then there is the variant called slaughter ball, played with four
or five soccer balls. At least the administration talked the coaches
out of using medicine balls.

The best day was when the girls were having a modeling show, so there
was this long runway built out onto the gym floor. You could sneak up
and use it to nail someone from close up, but I think my nose was
broken once by the guy already waiting on the other side of the runway
- about five feet away. What the hey, its only blood...

The full title is "Dodgeball: a True Underdog Story," but I don't
believe you can have a True Underdog Story without Wally Cox.

We played it with fully pumped up volley balls. Catch one of those in the
nose. I dare ya. ;o) Of course, I remember playing it with about thirty
guys on each side of the half-court line and two juggling pins placed on
each side of the keys and these were also targets that could cause your
team to lose if they both got nailed. So there was no just standing back
and avoiding the balls. You had to protect the pins by catching anything
that went in their direction. Drop the ball and you were out. Of course,
taking one for the team was looked on with honor.
