It's steel with some fancy internal reinforcing ribs, which have dubious
technical benefits. It's a pretty good tubeset though.

My SL and SLX bikes rode completely differently. I had one SL Battaglin and an
SLX Concorde at the same time, then added another SLX Battaglin along the way.
SL rode much softer than either of the SLX bikes.

Before y'all go start flaming me, I had the same wheelsets migrating between all
the bikes so there wasn't the "you're riding different tires, dummy" thing going
on.

Different weather? When I have a head wind, my bike feels like a
noodle, like a huffy, unresponsive, it doesn't want to move. When i
have a tail wind it feels stiff, responsive, resilient, shock
abosorbing, smooth, fast,light, comfortable.....help me with some
more adjectives.

Ok, then, I bet that it is either barometric pressure or gravitational
forces. Have you checked the phases of the moon?

The air inside the tubes will have different levels of compression
depending on barometric pressure or gravity. More pressure means a
stiffer ride. Less pressure means a less softer ride. It is just as
with the mtb shocks. In order to make sure that there is no
difference, you must take all the air out from inside the tubes and
seal them completely. The other way yo measure this to fill the tubes
with water and seal them.

One last thing, if you are going up a steep hill, air shifts to the
bottom bracket and rear triangle, giving the feeling of stifness along
the bb and seat stays. Going downhill causes the air to shift forward
making the front end stiffer and the bb softer.
