When I drop into the small cog on the cassette my chain hits the chainstay. Not good for the chain, probably not great for the chainstay. The amount of extra clearance necessary appears to be <1 mm.
I was wondering if a washer could be placed to push out the chainstay relative to the cassette, thereby creating the extra clearance?
Could a washer be placed between the freehub nut (part p in Fig. 1 of the Campy rear hub manual) and the axle?
Any other suggestions other than taking a grinder to the offending weld?

My other suggestion would be checking the chainline. Had a similar problem with Centaur 10 and turned out the chainline was too far to the right.
Other consideration could be switching to a smaller/larger sprocket to get the chain clear the dropout/chainstay. I wouldn't grind the weld, but a spacer could do the trick too.
