Just received a mail from a mate re Aldi (Swindon chapter):

"Mission accomplished (strange shop!) - got a couple of jerseys & a
jacket (the jacket being £8.99 rather than £9.99 mentioned below).
Looks reasonable quality (definitely for this price), but didn't rate
the shorts.
All the cycle gear was together except the jackets, which were hidden
at the other end of the shop, amongst nylon v necks & thermal
socks.......
They also had cycling socks, bike computers, bike rucksacs, gillets -
all worth a look if you've got a branch locally."

He didn't mention fire engines.

Good grief! They came all the way to Norfolk??? You can tell them it's very

Gotta disagree there - the shorts have that holy grail for female cyclists,
unseamed padding. And they come in very large sizes for fat cyclists like
me.

Have to agree. The Aldi shorts work exceptionally well for this FBOAB as well
:-) The Tchibo shorts are also good Steph - even though they are described as
"men's"

Never being one to miss a bargain, I was there at 9 am on Thursday.
Snaffled myself 3 pairs of shorts, a pair of fingerless gloves and a
showerproof jacket, and for DH one pair of shorts and a jacket. I don't
think I'll be needing more shorts for a while.
