  1. So there we are, halfway up the western side of Hartside, lurking 'neath a
tree. England quickly disappeared behind a rainstorm of such intensity that
the view went from "panoramic vista" to "I /think/ that's a sheep on the
other side of the road, but it could be a rock for all I know". Bah! "I
hope it's *pissing* down in Brighton!" said gNick, through teeth clenched to
prevent their chattering and thus shattering due to the cold.

I wish to know whether to torment some of mine fellow Nut Miners whom I
suspect of having planned to participate, so:

    Was it?

Anyway, I am pleased to report a 100% finish rate in Britain's Smallest
Mass-Participation Bike Ride(tm), as both gNick and I managed to ride from
his house[1] to Thee Pubb[2] and back[3]. Along the way we discovered that
the return trip is rather less hard work than the outward one, and also that
rough surfaces and three wheels preclude the setting of speed records
descending steep hills. Only 82 km/h. Bah!

    1 - Pity Me
2 - The Old Crown, Hesket Newmarket
3 - The next day, obv.

Most certainly. Thunder, lightning, hail, torrential rain and people penned
up like sheep at various road junctions, all starting around 1pm. So if
your friends had an early start and got a move on they would have been ok
otherwise they were well and truly [censored] on. We have you to blame for this,
    do we?

Oh yes. You can also blame me for the 1990 World Cup semi-final, p+nct+r+s,
Scrappy-Doo and the murder of Rasputin

On the other hand we had a very pleasant evening ride over to St Andrews.
Mainly sunny, a fair bit of headwind on the way out and still a nice
tailwind on the way back (highly unusual). Fish supper in the middle.
This morning however the windy rainy stuff has arrived...

    Too right it has..

I was having to pedal to go downhill slowly.. Lots of wind and rain.

Last night was a pleasant potter around the allotment, picking strawberries,
    weeding, and thinning the carrots.
Tonight is supposed to be a tem mile time trial. Given the weather it may be
closer to a triathalon on road...

Not so much "arrived" as announced to Dundee and environs that It Is The
Weather and that Resistance Is Futile, just before assimilating the
    place... Ack!
