"Cycle lane scrapped after death
Transport for London is to scrap a controversial cycle lane on Blackfriars
Bridge after a cyclist died there.
Vicki McCreery was hit by a bus on 10 May on the track which runs between a bus
lane and traffic.
BBC London's Mike Ramsden said London Mayor Ken Livingstone intervened calling
the system "daft and unsafe".
The lane was taken out overnight ready for Thursday's rush hour. The London
Cycling Campaign called the layout confusing and wants it redesigned.
The cycle lane was put up the middle of the road to allow traffic to turn left
without getting in the way of cyclists.
But most cyclists said they felt at risk when using the lane."
