What do you lot wear on your eyes to stop flies getting in and the wind
blowing all the moisture off your eyeballs and across your face?

BLOC Stealth goggles from Halfords cheap (£15) as shop 'soiled' -- looked
fine to me! Included 3 lenses: clear (very slightly tinted), yellow and
dark. Very good goggles. No scratches after about a year and a half's use
(Summer and Winter), very light and sit well on the nose.

contact lenses, with either clear or tinted lenses for the conditions
Oakleys. I do prefer my 'normal' specs though .. 😉

Briko Switchers and Briko Stingers. They look outlandish but the lenses
are very good quality.

As I wear specs, either my normal specs, my prescription sunspecs or
my contact lenses, with either clear or tinted lenses for the
conditions Oakleys. I do prefer my 'normal' specs though .. 😉

Don't they steam up? When I wore glasses, they'd steam up just if you went
outdoors in the rain and were vaguely warm.

Plastic or polycarbonate lenses wouln't normally steam up unless you were
very wet or breathing onto them. If you had glasses with glass lenses they
would steam up lots as they take a long time to adjust to the surrounding
temperature.

I wear RX Oakleys or Cebe Athlon II (with replaceable lenses) as I am a spec
wearer. I have just ordered some Rudy Project Perception for a customer at
work. I'm yet to inspect them in detail but they seem very smart and well
priced (for what they are).

But then you have the problem of the liquid in your eyes getting blown out
when you go down hills like the clappers again. And flies might get into
your eyes. And once they're in your eyes they could burrow into your brain
😉.

Depends on the shape of your face, though.

I tried on every pair in Bonthrone, but ended up with a pair of Oakley M
frames at over UKP100 as nothing else fitted me properly. I've since
bought a pair of much cheaper Madisons with untinted lenses for use at

Oakley M Frames. Ridiculously expensive. I used to use very very cheap
imitation ones for many years until an indulgent partner gave me the
real thing.

No, they aren't worth the money, but they are very nice.

Yep. I breathed one in the other week. If I hadn't held my breath for as
long as possible to kill with with high CO2 concentrations in my lungs, it'd
have burrowed into my arteries and worked it's way round to my brain by
now...

I concur. My Stealths have served me very well, and the UK importer
sent me two new nose pieces (valued at £2.99ea.) for free after the
original submitted to a car tyre.

Madison D'Arcs.

Cost something like £30 and come with three interchangeable lenses - clear,
dark and yellow. Comfortable, don't steam up, fit well and don't fall off.
No complaints at all, really.

Haven't had them that long though and can't compare them to anything else,
but one way or another, I would say that some kind of eye protection is an
*essential* part of your cycling wardrobe.
