Rattly Rim

I've noticed the same thing occasionally. I think it still could be
something to do with the rim despite it not being audible when tyre &
stuff is removed. Maybe pressure from the tyre exacerbates it?

Something funny with spokes? Loose eyelets? Loose rim joint weld
pin/piece? Certain Mavic rims (particularly Open Pro) are known for
sometiems having rattling bits loose inside.

If you have presta valves with a lock ring, check that it is done up
properly. If it is slightly loose, you can get it to rattle against the
rim.

Or remove it altogether and lose it down a crack. Many people claim
that this helps reduce punctures (though I must admit, I've never
really seen why)

Because it provides the valce stem with slightly more free movement before it
rips out of the tube.
