I went out later in the day as I was in bed after working Saturday night.
Did about 30 miles on the road bike in the late afternoon. All those long
winter nights grinding against head winds have all paid off and I can, ahem,
admire myself in shop windows now and again. Oh come on - there's no harm in
it, it's only like a woman trying on a dress in a shop!

Yep, though not while cycling. Instead I was scything a field of nettles and
didn't notice that I'd sweated or rubbed the sunblock off the back of my
neck until it was too late. I now look like an extra from the Dukes of
Hazzard (dungarees excepted). Bah.

Fortunately I don't burn easily, but I suffered mild sunstroke after
spending 6 hours working in the garden on Saturday. I foolishly didn't
even think about protection, I just thought "It's a nice day, I can get
on with some of those jobs that need doing".

I then spent most of Saturday night unable to sleep, and most of Sunday
laying around trying to rehydrate :-(

Hmmm. When I lived in central Italy, where summer temps (both
average and peak) are about 10 degrees higher than here, it was
just different. I never even felt tempted to ride bareback in that.
