I was just emailing bikesoiler about that. It seems the Tuesday nigh
dirt crits are about to end as the land was sold (next week, 23rd is th
last w/ fairwell party). I've not done any yet - too much roadie blood
    don't like getting dirty ;

I'd like to try them but Tuesdays were my day off. I should try and mak
it down for an easy one next tuesday... http://www.deluxebicycleclub.co

Anyone who's ridden the course - how do you reckon slicks would go? (I'
serious... too lazy to swap commuter tyres)

Have you been racing/gonna race? These new ones would be somethin
different during winter.. easier with no track on Monday nights too..

  4. Just a quick note on this...
due to circumstances beyond our control, tonights dirt crit @ Westgate Park
is cancelled... in it's competitive format.
If by chance you happen to turn up tonight and just so happen to choose to
follow a rider on a Kona hardtail around the circuit at about 6:30pm, great
I would love to not not see you there... maybe.... if you get my drift.

Next week however the fun starts in earnest, we will have another week to
work on some more aspects to the circuit. Getting it ready for the night
    races to come....
So be @ Westgate Park next Thursday for some official fun.

    Cheers,
    sorry for any inconvience.

From the sounds of it, you've been doing waaaay too much riding on
bitumen. Then again, so have I. The SS is getting VERY jealous.

I haven't done any races due to other 'competitive interests', and was
really keen to start racing with Blackburn CC but am going OS for some
months (at long last) so it wasn't really worth getting the license (or
    thats my excuse!).

Yeah, ya got me... some roadies don't mind getting dirty once in
while. My frequent "soil sampling" was probably going overboard thoug
    ;

I kept telling myself not to buy a license, save money, etc befor
April, but I caved when I started to get faster again and paid for m
license. I figure if I can't afford it I don't need it anyway and
wanted to get in 'some' crits before the seasons o'doom arrived.

Might give some of the 'proper' road races another go this season, we'l
see.. back to D grade for me

  8. damn you hippy

Now you've got me on a train of thought which has resulted in m
thinking way too seriously about the Kona 24hr, to the point where we'v
already cobbled together a 3-man team and I'm beginning to debat
    training regimes

So - any words of wisdom from the experienced one in terms o
preparation, tactics, things to watch out for, things to bring, etc?

Not that I'm thinking of winning - We're just going for a larf and if w
    don't come last - Bonus

Nice! 🙂 But what is this "training" that you speak of? :

Above all, bring fun. But you will also need: something to sleep in
something to sleep on, food, drinks, bike, food, spare parts, drinks
tools, as many tubes as you can carry, some food, the rest of your team
lighting and tarp to create a "team area", CHAIRS!, food & drink, money
lights, charged batteries, helmet & bar mounted lights with as man
batteries as you can buy or build, an mtba licence (or buy a da
licence), towel for showers and spare, warm clothes to change into whe
not riding, as many pairs of clean nicks and jerseys as you own or ca
    steal before the race, torch

I forgot towels so I had to drip dry, but it was rather warm, s
    this was ok

My sleeping bag was cold. I woke (didn't really sleep actually) freezin
    my bits off!!

If you can, practice riding at night - it is waaay cool, but kind
    freaky too

After the race, I was stuffed and only managed to drive a few ka
before I needed a hit of sugar and caffeine which pepped me right up
    Beware of this

There will always be people like me out there riding. We are not fas
and not fussed if we do come last. But sure as I like chocolate, if
see you in front of me I'll chase :-

Keep this thread going with questions and I'll endeavour to answer the
    all truthfully :-
