On a limited budget which is preferred(cheaper/better), prebuilt factory wheels or rebuilt my old wheels using my xtr hubs to new rims?
It seems my rims (Mavic 517's to XTR hubs) are falling apart. I am getting shards of metal from the rim embedding into the brake pads. The sound of metal on metal horrendous and embarrassing. These are no doubt defective wheels but I am probably well out of warranty (4 year old rims). Otherwise the wheel is in perfect shape.
One shop thinks factory, the other thinks rebuild. What do you think?
