Hi,
Haven't got one (but also considering to buy one).
First info of coarse is www.rohloff.de See the explodid view (1Mb) and you
know how it works.
And after reading everything. Turn over point (when is it cheaper to take a
Rohloff) for the hub is +6000Km per year. You need to change oil when it
gets wintertime (don't know if you live in the cold area's).
Servicing is not so late as you like (50.000) but is is much easier dan an
open system (you can even have closed chaingards), chainging oil and
cleaning the chain is it.
Hope you like shifting SRAM style because it is something like that, asked
by E-mail if the have somthing like rapid fire, but it was NO. And as extra
comment i got "it is not shifting like SRAM, because the index shifting is
done in the hub". If you look at there site you will see it works with 2
cables on an "throttle grip".

I've had a Rohloff hub on my tourer/commuter for several years - probably
about 20,000km on it by now. No problems with it at all. Servicing is
limited to changing the oil annually. Rohloff make separate summer and
winter oils and recommend changing the oil summer and winter, but I don't
think Australian winters are cold enough to bother with this. The hub is a
bit noisy in the bottom seven gears but that's about the only criticism I

Rohloff have now replaced their summer and winter oils with an
all-year-round oil (Ganzjahresöl) which they recommend changing annually,
or every 5000km.
