If i'm not mistaken, the closest major town to Bondi state forest is Bombala. From Sydney, your probably best off getting there via canberra - cooma - Nimitabel and on to Bombala, unless your up for a 6hr drive along the appalling south coast highway system to Bega. I have'nt been to the state forest but am aware of the lodging facilities which look pretty nice. The surrounding area just to the north, the tablelands b/n Nimitabel, Dalgety, Cooma is a great area for touring on a mix of sealed/unsealed, quiet country roads.
