My reply to you . It sounds like someone did not maintain the bicycle properly and that the child dropped the bicycle a number of times handgrips do not wear out unless the bicycle is dropped repeatedly andthe hand grips are abraded by concrete and dirt and rocks. When a parent sees this is happening the grips should be replacedafter the handlebar ends have been smoothed.I feel sorry for the child he was doing what all kids do and he was hurt ,I wish him a speedy recovery. I do not however believe the manufacturer should be blamed . Parents need to take responsibility for proper maintenance of a childs bike.

😕 I agree It is up to the parents to see that the bikes are ridable and safe! It's not the bikes fault because of misuse, I know I have 4 kids myself... You have to look the things over once in a while...! Accidents can be prevented.. I'm sorry about the injury... But blaming the bike mfg. is not the answer !Kids will be kids replace worn parts ! thats the answer not a law suit! My 2 cents 😕

My kids were throwing a chain ring at eachother and one of them got hurt...now I plan to sue the bike manufacturer, and the P.E teacher that taught them to throw while I'm at it.

God- where does it end? Know one takes responsibility anymore in our society, and it's getting worse (I know, I am a teacher). Sorry about the kid, but please don't get Moore involved in this because the parents are at fault, period, for allowing the end of the bar to be exposed...Heck, ten seconds with some duct tape would have prevented the injury, and sadly, that is what the lawyers from Mongoose are going to say. I wouldn't even know if my bar ends are sharp...wanna guess why?

I'm new to this forum and for the most part have sat back and enjoyed just looking around to see what is being talked about. I totally agree with your comments about this. I'm the father of 4 sons (currently in the process of adopting a little girl) and my wife is also a teacher so I see this from a couple of angles. Obviously anyone with a heart feels very badly for this happening to a child under any circumstance but court isn't the answer. Unless of course people can start being sued for being less than brilliant, lazy, etc. etc.

Like I mentioned having 4 sons I know that their bikes get abused. For my one son I have to put on new back tire each year AND GRIPS BECAUSE THEY GET WORN ON THE ENDS.
Even if a kid isn't too reckless with their bike the grips are going to get worn just from laying a bike over or not using the kickstand.
OK I'm starting to ramble - point being I agree that society needs to suck it up and start taking RESPONSIBILITY for their own actions. Kind of like the gal that sued McDonald's for spilling hot coffee in her lap and sadly enough winning. Did she really think that when she went through the drive-thru that she was purchasing room temp. or cold coffee??

This sounds like a freak accident to actually be impailed but it certainly could have been prevented by the care givers. I hope this child recovered and is ok.
God gave each of us common sense (some a lot more than others) but let's use what he gave us.
