  1. Can anyone recommend me a decent waterproof jacket good for commuting in the British weather also for normal use off the bike? £30 to £50 preferable. Is there any manufacturer I should look at, or should I just go for any one?

Thanks very much for your help in advance

(Apologies as already posted this elsewhere, but realised that was the wrong forum, and this is the correct area)

  2. The first thing you need to look for is a degree of breathability - this makes a huge difference to how sweaty you'll feel. There are plenty of cheap compact waterproofs available from camping shops like Millets, but you can also get some good value cycling specific stuff from www.wiggle.co.uk which has got breathable stuff within your price range (Altura Nevis for example). The 'breathing' ability gets better with more expensive fabrics. I think a front zip is probably a good idea too for extra ventilation.
