Stingray

Could this qualify as a 'bent? I guess so (maybe a "comfort "cycle?)
by putting a sissy bar (with/without padding) to lean back on, and
maybe some long chrome forks with a spring..... (sorry; this
California air "'bent" my thoughts).

I want one...the Child in me wants one and unlike when I was a child...now I
can afford one.
1st time I saw the Sting-Ray made by that nice Canadian company named
Schwinn, I noticed the BB was quite a bit forward and with a Sissy
Bar/Backrest...you have a Bent-like bike. Get that BB up 6 inches higher and
add some gears and ya got a bent/

There was an article in the Miami Herald today showing a photo of the
new Stingray. The article included the history of the bike. It also
described the rear wheel as about the size of a small motorcycle tire
(and it looks it) with the seat as an extra wide, cushioned bananna
seat. The seat looks similar to those you see on fast motorcycles.
It definitely is "kewl" looking.

Were you serious when you called Schwinn a Canadian company?
I had always been of the impression that it was an American company.

I can't tell from the web page but Schwinn merged with another bicycle
company and then was bought while in bankrupcy by Dorel Industries which
appears to be canadian

Probably true. Schwinn hasn't been different from the other "names"
in the bicycle business for 15 years. It's just a name pasted on a
frame now.

A couple of months ago "Dorel Industries of Montreal" paid $230.mil USD and
bought out 4 American bicycle companies held by Pacific Cycles. I cannot
remember the 4th company, but the 1st 3 are Mongoose-Schwinn & GT.
I suspect "Pro-Cycle" will take over the 4 companies from Dorel...Dorel
makes furniture & car seats for babies & toddlers. Pro-Cycle makes some
recumbents and semi-recumbents and a million DFs a year...might be
interesting to someday see a bent Schwinn. I know Pro-Cycle is doing some
field testing of a new semi-bent for 2006.

Think I did this message before
Schwinn went into Receivership along with GT-Mongoose and Road King a couple
of years ago.
They were placed in trust under "Pacific Cycles" till a buyer was found.
About 5 months ago DOREL of Montreal bought all 4 Bike companies from
Pacific Cycles for $230.mil.
Dorel makes furniture for toddlers and car booster seats...and now they own
4 bike companies too/
