http://www.bikepartsusa.com/ lists most everything you'll find at a
local bike shop, from bottom-feeder Altus stuff to Dura-Ace. Most
conventional accessories, too.

There are lots of places to find good parts that cost little or no money.
If you don't mind starting out your building with used parts, that is. Once
you build one or two, and decide what it is you want, what you want to
change and where you want to go with your design, then maybe go for new
stuff.

1. Your local dump. Always bikes to be had if you're allowed to remove
them as scrap.
2. Place an add volunteering to remove "those old bikes that you've been
meaning to throw away, but just haven't had the chance to".
3. Salvation Army/Thrift stores.

Once people in your area find out you take old bikes, it won't be hard to
end up with so many, you'll start looking for ways to get rid of some 🙂
