  1. hi all, i have a cannondale gemini 1000 - 2002 model and i need to change
the cassette, because, according to a bike store, its knackered.
now, seeing as i know bugger all about cassettes, could anyone reccomend a
    decent one?
i have single speed with a chaindog tensioner, and the cassette seems to
have gone to hell since it was fitted.
any reccomendations or tips would be greatly appreciated.
    thanx.

Are they soooo expensive that it would be worth trying to do it yourself
(knowing "bugger all" about it by your own admission) and buggering it up and
havng to buy new parts twice? If not, I would suggest the LBS.

    ;-)

  5. probably right, i`ll nip back to the bike shop then!
    thanx anyways

the bike store is quite expensive, i was thinking of buying one from ebay.

1.) Don't top-post. It makes your posts hard to read and people less
    likely to help you.

2.) loomer has a good point. Since you know "bugger all about
cassettes," you should go somewhere where they know slightly more than
"bugger all." The local shop is the best place for that.

3.) It is not a good idea to surf eBay without the first clue. You
will get screwed if you do that.

4.) You have a single speed with a cassette? How in the hell is that
possible? A cassette usually implies more than one gear.

You *did* say that "any recommendations...would be greatly
appreciated." OK, go back to the bike store and buy a cassette from
them. You'll probably need a chain too, if the cassette is
"knackered" in such a way as to be described as "worn." The shop will
install things correctly, and you'll help support the shop for the
next time you need some help with your expensive MTB.

Skip eBay for now. Your odds of finding joy there seem very limited
    from this observer's POV.
