Which spacer kit???

Seems expensive for a build your own SS. I bought some extra spacers
from the LBS for $0.75, I have yet to ride the bike, but I think it will
work just fine. I've seen others use PVC pipe, pretty easy as well, and
for 1" of pipe (I don't know the hole size), it can't be more than $1.00.

I would rather save the $$ and spend it on a Soulcraft Chain tensioner,
which from all accounts, seem to be a good way to go. These are around
$70.00.

IMHO

Agreed, singlespeeding for me is about going cheap and re-using as many
parts from my junk box as possible before dropping any coin. I just
disassembled some old 9 sp. cassettes and used the spacers in there. Works
like a charm.

If you are building a fancy schmancy singlespeed for show or as your primary
steed, it might be worth going with something aftermarket like that instead
of just rigging it up.

Thanks for the tip. No I'm going the least expensive route
myself so your pointers are well taken! In fact, I'll probably
be using an old derailleur for the tensioner.
