XC winter tire?

  1. My local tracks are starting to get a little muddy and I'm starting to
    feel more like I'm wakeboarding than riding.

    Anyone care to recommend a good set of winter tires that can handle
    muddy clay ruts and damp slippery roots?

    FYI. I ride a hardtail at intermediate level.

    This is my answer to every tire question but Michelin Wildgripper XLS
    with Silica or if you have the room, Michelin Hot S in 2.5". You drop
    the pressure down on these and they are great in snow, plus they rule
    for everything else, the silica grips damp roots better than anyhting I
    have used. Wide rims help too so you can run the lower pressure.
