  1. G'day folks,

I've loved cycling (road racing) since before "nine wide world of sports" started telecasting "The Paris-Roubaix" as a
prelude to the "TDF", anyone remember that? IMHO it's the toughest 1 day race (Paris-Roubaix) on the planet. I'd sit
there in front of the telly for hours just to see a few minutes of racing! Damn those cobble stones. They certainly
separate the gifted from the try-hards!!!

Over the last few years I've gotten in to Mountain Biking. I've *always* respected BMX and Freestyle BMX!!

I'm glad I found this group all beit though accident, I hope to contribute.

    All the best,

    G.

    Welcome aboard GDS.

As you can see, we love to debate the validity of various
    usenet conventions.

Yours is easily the best debut post I've seen in ages. Although,
I think it got a bit more attention than it really deserved
because DRS is a bit reactive just at the moment.

    Cheers.

  3. Hi GDS

Must say that those broadcasts on the "Wide World of Sports" program in the
1980s is what got me into cycling also. They were done by CBS programming
and music was done by John Tesh which he released two CDs of his music (they
    were not original though).

Those tour productions were great also - Hinault v Lemond in 86 was the one
that got me into it and thanks to my late father who taped it (on Beta) and
I have watched them many a time over the years. I was only 6 at the time
and still continue to be in love with the sport (road), whatever controversy
    comes up.

    That's my story ...
