If you have to ask this, then the question obviously wasn't directed towards you. What's wrong with collecting memorabilia, especially from a sponsored team that won't exist after season's end? And did I say that I'd wear it? No. I'm just looking to have one. But so what if I would? I'm proud to show support for whatever team I am a fan of, whatever sport it may be: be it cycling, basketball, hockey -- pro or amateur. Besides, Lance isn't the only one who wears yellow. At least he isn't through stage 5.

Anyway, the question is still out there: Does anyone know where to pick up a team (any team) yellow jersey?

Ebay would probably have one that may actually have an actual team version previously worn (maybe signed) in the tour. They are generally not made because not many people want them to wear and even less want them to just "have". i think u will be lucky to find one.......maybe Nike make one? I think there are nike "ticks" on the shoulders of the prize jerseys, they may have the sole rights to design. Good Luck!

Believe it or not a friend of mine supplies the Phonak jersies. I know he has the team jersies but not sure about the yellow leader jersey. Yes he is Swiss.

jhuskey, a Phonak would be outstanding! I can't even find their podium hat.

i had a look and Nike do make them just as i thought. Dunno if u had a look on their site but there is a postal version on there and others with no logo (like u said u have found elsewhere). Hope that helps.

Thomas tells me that the yellow jersies are supllied by the tour and made up on the spot. He does have one medium Phonak Team Jersey(medium) left. He just doesn't bring that much with him when he travels.

Yeah, thanks. I did see that. I have several high-end bike shops nearby that deal with Nike. I'll contact them to see if they can special order.

By the way Thomas is our ski director at a small ski resort in Tennessee.
He is a wealth of information on European cycling since he grew up with it. He is 62 and looks maybe 50 but can kick butt on a bike.

Try earning respect and accomplishments instead of buying them!!! Just to let you know, those people pointing and talking about you when you wear this jersey are NOT going to be saying "Wow! What a cycling enthusiast! He is really cool!" It will be more like, "Look at that dork! Who does he think he is?"

What it means that I have more respect for the sport and those who earn the right to wear the jersey; so if I do know I certainly will not be telling you.

Not to mention, how much do you know about cycling to begin with? Someone already offered up a Medium..... in case you haven't noticed, pro-cyclists are not the biggest athelets. I doubt you are going to find an authentic jersey larger than a medium.

Ive seen a us postal one on e bay. it went for something like $150 i believe. i got a regular yellow one for like $50 from there. Good luck.

As has been suggested, the Tour Yellow, Green, White and Polka Dot jerseys are made up on the spot, quickly, between the finish and the podium ceremony. They have seamstresses on site to affix sponsor logos.

jstraw, thanks for the info! It's good to get some confirmation on a subject that many people don't seem to know about. A little constructive insite can be quite helpful.

Your replies about ownership/use of pro-team-labeled equipment is extremely humorous. Especially since you're admittedly a 'recreational enthusiast' who putts around on, of all things, a US Postal bike! Did you 'earn the right' to own and ride it? No. You simply bought it. And you bought this thing when it was, as you said, '[the] top end Trek at that time the 5200'. Yet, at the bottom of that same paragraph, you were admittedly "very much a rec rider and never contemplated racing or doing extended rides". Then why did you buy it? Liked that label, huh? Or was it just that you, like me, like the product? (Check your own words if you like. I've included some handy little links for your convenience.) Aren't you the 'pot calling the kettle black'?

Once again, I have never said that I'm going to wear it. I want a jersey that will (after it is, cross my fingers, signed) have a very significant meaning to [B]me[/B] personally, and it will mean more to me if it is actually my size. I will frame it and hang it on the wall, and it will be a momento specifically for me. Sorry if you have a problem with that; oh well, you can't please everyone ...
